Contour Letters

The goal of this part of the project is to show REPETITION in your design. You can repeat things like shapes, size, space, and lines.

You will be using magazines to trace letters using CONTOUR lines. A contour is an outline.

Step 1: Create an 7x9 inch rectangle on your paper.
Step 2: Sketch out a design for your layout. You can use a single shape (such as a large circle) or multiple shapes (such as many large circles) or an interesting shape (such as a  ).
Step 3: Determine how you will show REPETITION for your project. Will you use:
  • Repeated SPACE?
  • Repeated SHAPES?
  • Repeated SIZES?
  • Repeated PATTERNS?
Step 4: Begin to trace your letters with a pencil.Step 5: You will be given a thin marker to trace your letters. Do not fill in your letters. Leave them as contour lines.
