Photoshop Review 2

  1. Open a new document that is 10x10" at 300ppi
  2. Use the gradient tool to create a 2-color gradient. Find the place in your options palette that allows you to change the colors in your gradient. Left side should be #1A1A1A. Right side should be #575757. Once you have set the correct colors, draw a horizontal line across the middle of your document, going from left to right.
  3. Pull the image of Banks into Photoshop and drag it into your new document.
  4. Place her picture on the right side of your document
  5. Blend the left edge of her picture so that it looks like it is part of the gradient background you just made.
    • A soft or fuzzy brush will help you
    • A low opacity on your brush will help you
  6. Use the pen tool to make a shape that goes around the figure of the girl in a single shape. You will need to go around her hair carefully. Change the color of this shape to #A96278 and change the blending mode of this layer to Soft Light.
    • If your vector layer is not filling in with a color, look for the shape layers option in your options palette
  7. Make a 9x9 rectangle with your rounded rectangle SHAPE tool. Set the corner radius (before you draw the rectangle) to 60 pixels
  8. Change the color of the rounded rectangle to #82c6d5. Change the blending mode of the rounded rectangle layer to Soft Light.
  9. Duplicate the rounded rectangle layer. Put the blending mode of the duplicate copy at Normal. Double-click on the layer to add the following effects:
        
          Inner Shadow - change the settings to what you see below:
    • Blend Mode: Color Burn
    • Color: #146c7f
    • Distance: 21 pixels
    • Choke: 23%
    • Size: 250 pixels
    • All other options can remain as they are
        
          Stroke     - change the settings to what you see below:
    • Size: 50 pixels
    • Position: Inside
    • Color: #ffffff
  10. Change the fill of this layer to zero. Notice how this is different than opacity
  11. Make a new layer. Grab your paintbrush tool and set your color to #a96278. Using a blending or soft brush and a low opacity, make a small paintbrush mark on the cheek of the girl. Change the blending mode of this layer to Darker Color. Lightly color her lips as well.
  12. Choose a typewriter-style font and type the word "banks" in lowercase letters. Decide where you would like to put the text and the size you think is best.
