GD1 Abridged Portrait Setup

  1. Open a new 8x10 or 10x8 document.
  2. Drag your photo inside of the document. Determine how you would like to position your photo
  3. Create a shape or series of shapes on your picture. Try to choose a design that is related to what you are trying to express in your photo. You can use the shape tools in Photoshop or create your own vector silhouette
  4. Determine where you would like your shapes to be located on your picture. Keep in mind that they should be placed over at least one of your eyes and your nose

  5. Count the number of shapes you have (you might only have one). Duplicate your image layer that amount of times. So, if you only have one shape, you will be duplicating your image layer one time.
  6. Pair up each picture with a shape and put in into a group.
  7. Hold you command key and select the icon of each shape layer. This will put dancing ants around that layer.
  8. Once you have the dancing ants, select your matching group, and click on the LAYER mask button at the bottom of your layers palette. This will restrict the group so that only the content that is within the mask is showing.

Your final setup should look something like this:

You will be creating a vector version of yourself within the shapes. There will be videos for each body part. Everyone's first body part MUST be your skin. You are only required to create the body parts that are contained within your shapes.
