INSTRUCTIONS: Event Design

WHEN STARTING
  1. Research on pinterest and find at least 10 different designs that are created on a modular grid.
  2. Open an 11x17 inch document at 300ppi.
  3. Create a grid with margins, columns, rows and gutters. You choose how many, but more modules might give you more flexibility. Use the View>New Guide Layout function in Photoshop for easy setup.

Your event is for something that is happening between April and June of this year. Find a real concert, performance, or event that is actually happening and gather information about it. Don't worry about their existing design, images or logos -- give me a fresh perspective!

You will need to illustrate the following concepts:
  1. A design based on a modular grid
  2. Alignment -- Try to use this rule: Everything should align with something.
However, you should still consider previous concepts, including balance, hierarchy, proximity, and repetition. You should also incorporate:
  • All necessary information to easily get people to come to this event. Don't assume "people will know what I mean." Always make your information more clear rather than less clear.
  • Creative imagery related to your event. This can be photographs or vector designs.
  • An understanding of previous design skills (using appropriately-sized images, keeping things on separate layers, use of tools and brushes, setting up a grid, etc.)
  • Exploring text in an illustrative way
