- Set up your new document at 8x10 at 300ppi
- Drag in GUIDES from your rulers (if you can't see your rulers, go to View>Rulers) and place them at 1 inch from each edge of your invitation.
- You must have a one-inch decorative border around your invitation. Be creative - don't just use a paintbrush. I am not looking for you to copy what I did. So if your design is polka-dotted with curvy paintbrush lines and balloons in the corners, I'm not really going to be impressed. You can use:
- images
- paintbrush & eraser tool
- selection tools
- paint bucket
- filters (see below)
- brushes
- color replacement tool (make those balloons GREEN instead of BLUE!)
- opacity
- blending
- Once you have created your border, use your rectangular marquee tool to draw a rectangle around the inside area of your design. Then delete that area on each layer that makes up your border.

You can also use FILTERS in your design. Filters are artistic changes that within Photoshop that you can apply to an image. You can find these in the filter menu:
If you decide to use filters, you can use whatever ones you want. Here are videos that showcase just two of the MANY filter options to choose from:
