Did you know it was
almost illegal to serve apple pie in public restaurants
without cheese in Wisconsin? Or that in Texas, rumors said it was against the law for children to have unusual haircuts? We sure didn't, until we saw this hilariously bizarre photo series by photographer
Olivia Locher.
Locher stumbled upon the most ridiculous regulations to have ever come close to the written law. Some made it nearer to real legislation, while others became part of a state's mythic (but not so accurate) history. Her project light-heartedly points out that no matter which state you call your own, you're probably not exempt from folk lore that outlines some seemingly senseless statutes, which have allegedly attempted to govern the use of pickles and "form-fitting" pants.

In Alabama it’s illegal to have an ice cream cone in your back pocket at all times. |
 |
In California nobody is allowed to ride a bicycle in a swimming pool. |
 |
In Connecticut pickles must bounce to officially be considered pickles. |
 |
In Delaware it is illegal to wear pants that are 'form-fitting' around the waist. |
 |
In Hawaii coins are not allowed to be placed in one’s ears. |

In Texas it is illegal for children to have unusual haircuts. |

In Wisconsin it's illegal to serve apple pie in public restaurants without cheese. |

Ioan Florea, a Romanian-born artist, turns the practice of 3D printing on its head, using the machines to print plastics that he later converts into metals for his large and intricate sculptures. Imagine steering wheels molded to fit your two hands. Florea wants you to think of these possibilities when you see his work, particularly the 1971 Ford Torino he "encapsulated" in form-fitting metal, using a 3D printer and nano-materials and the covered wagon.

This version of Hogwarts by
Cherry Bay Cakery is made of gingerbread and candy and other sugary stuff. What kinda stuff you ask? The walls are held together with fondant icing, the windows are made out of root beer barrel candies, and the valley is made from Rice Krispies. The project took 100 hours, 50 lbs of fondant, and magical gingerbread skills.
